For Let’s Talk About Mountains, we designed the publication accompanying the exhibition at the Swiss Alpine Museum ALPS. The magazine brings together over 200 film stills and photographs (out of 6000) captured during a rare filming trip through North Korea’s mountainous regions in 2018/19—documenting everyday encounters beyond official narratives. The editorial concept draws on bold, type-led layouts and generous image sequences, balancing contemporary editorial design with references to Korean typographic gestures. A modular grid allows for shifting typographic densities, oversised pull quotes, and spatial contrasts between essays, interviews, and imagery. In 2023, the publication was re-issued in collaboration with the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, featuring an additional chapter framing the exhibition within a German cultural context. The result is a printed extension of the exhibition’s narrative—a hybrid between film diary, critical essay, and image archive, reflecting ALPS’ ongoing commitment to experimental, documentary storytelling beyond alpine clichés.
