Literary Travel Guide Bern

Following the success of Das Narr’s literary travel guide to Basel, the independent publisher returns with a new edition dedicated to the city of Bern. 19 authors with close ties to Bern and its region contribute texts capturing personal, curious, and overlooked places—turning hidden side streets, old public pools, and neighbourhood cafés into unexpected must-sees. Throughout the book, yellow pages share surprising and sometimes odd facts about Bern. Freely interpreted and essayistic in tone, they run alongside the literary texts, offering an extra layer of local stories. A series of 3D renderings responds to selected contributions, while Bern-based illustrator Dario Forlin adds playful drawings that visualise facts about the city in his own way. The result is a book about Bern that’s personal, offbeat, and full of details you won’t find in typical guides.
